Supporters Demand Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a barricade and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the Australian man pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting characters.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, securing several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
