The British government is set to progress with employing the entire amount of seized Russian assets to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the leaders of the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the United States.

United Kingdom sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's assets since Russia began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, previously, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had exclusively been drawn from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the complete amount of the seized Russia's state funds to conclude the conflict.

He added that more measures over the next period would increase the strain on Russia.

This statement is subsequent to European representatives convened in Copenhagen previously to debate utilizing seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to take or employ frozen Russian assets, based on reports.

The value of seized Russian holdings in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government executed large-scale bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in blackouts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.
