This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
