Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Personnel to White House
President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their memory.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid public safety in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to help others.”
Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Government Changes
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy led the administration to pause refugee claims and cease providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
